ALL the rules

I never explained to you all the rules that I set up for myself. Normally I just love to break rules. I just can't help myself. This time I've set up small loopholes in my list of "rules" for myself so that I should have a large enough "out" if I need to.

The rule you all know about is that I'm going to knit on one large item and one small item until completion. I'm also going to try and finish my UFO's.
The loopholes:
1. If I'm designing something new then I can knit that instead of one of the UFO's.

Sorry, this is all I can show you at this time. If I showed you more, I'd have to have you exterminated.

2. The one project at a time doesn't include spinning projects. I can have several of those going at once. (See yesterday's post)

3. Swatches don't count as a project. I can knit as many swatches as I want.

4. screw UFO's I'm gonna knit what I want but I will finish it before I start something new.

There is one other rule that I made for myself. It's interesting. Well, to me it's interesting. It may be the hardest one to adhere to. If I'm 'designing' a new project than I will use commercial yarn. If I'm knitting someone else's design then I need to use my handspun.

This is an interesting challenge. I need to come up with yarns in the gauge needed for these projects or change the pattern to suit my gauge. I had to change the pattern slightly with the hugs and kisses socks. My gauge was way off. Way, way, way, off. I had to reduce the stitch count to 48 and change the charted pattern.

Of course this rule has exceptions/loopholes.
1.Socks. Socks are the exception to all rules. Or they should be, if they aren't already. I have a ton of sock yarn and I can use that whenever I want with whatever pattern I want.
2.If I can't possibly wait until I have the yarn spun then I have to at least use a stash yarn. Or tell you it's from my stash. You won't know the difference.

Can't wait to see the mystery design. Is it something for Knitty??? Looks like Noro. I'll just have to wait an' see.
Love your latest handspun. Especially the green.

Damn, I purposely knit those socks looser than I ordinarily would. I figured no one would want to knit them at 10 spi. How many WPI were in your handspun?

Your Hugs and Kisses sock is absolutely gorgeous !
Sadly I can't buy the pattern, living in the U.K. with a cc paypal account.
Rules can be helpful,as long as they don't restrict you too much or make you miserable.I don't impose rules on my knitting, but do,on occasion, display some discipline !

I chuckled when I read your post..... Your rules are hysterical. I have a few rules for knitting too. The main one being... I can have two projects going , If one of them is a pair of socks.I love your socks , they are bright and cheery.

Just catching up and not much to say but YOU ROCK!

A copyright is a copyright is a copyright. Don't copy copyrighted things without permission. You'll notice my stuff is all copyrighted. Its all for personal use and that's cool. That's sharing. Copying and selling my pattern is stealing. Same for all designers and their patterns. Play well and don't break copyright law. Share nice.

Sharing certainly doesn't mean you can Steal bandwidth. Hotlinking is very bad.

Share nice and I'll be your buddy, be a troll and I'll torch all your needles.
